Quick 2 days round up
Thursday night after much hesitance me and sam went to see the Secret Machines, supported by Annie at Webster Hall where we saw Broadcast with Toby. Annie was ok, bit weak but fun. The best was this obviously gay man in the front row mouthing all the lyrics complete with hand gestures and the closing of the eyes like he was in Steps. It was quite unbelievable, so me and Sam were forced to try to take pictures of him. Honestly, if you want to see a performance just ask me next time we're out and I've had 1/2 a shandy and I will willingly oblige.
Secret Machines were good, bit like the kind of Britpop/Rock bands i liked when I was 16. They did perform really well, but it just wasn't totally my thing, but good nonetheless.
Oh and I got chatted up by this old man who asked me if anyone had told me I looked like Ashlee Simpson, Jessica Simpson's less talented (ha!) sister. I had to stand at the bar being polite while his female pity friend looked over until Sam got back from the toilet...
Last night (friday) after a leisurely day at Tokion I met Sam at the Cake Shop again which is a Cake Shop (der)-slash- record shop -slash- club -slash- my wrists because its so indie and I love it. We were on our way home when I remembered that Chris from Tokion said I could have a jumper that he'd left at the Cast so I went over there to pick it up. I saw Brendan on the stairs and remembered that his shop was opening today whereupon we got roped into sewing a ridiculous amount of labels into t-shirts until four in the morning. Ryan and Chuck from the Cast tried to offer us this drug called alanol or something; its for people with ADD and helps you focus. Me and Sam were like 'We're sewing labels on t-shirts! How much focus do you really need to do that??', although if someone had offered me some when I was doing my dissertation I would have grabbed the bottle from their fist and downed the lot! But we did have a few beers.
Really, we must have sewed about 400 tshirts, I haven't worked that diligently in a long time.
Tonight me, Sarah and Spam are going to the notoriously rubbish (yeah whatevs, just jealous) indie gay night misshapes that Madonna went to a while ago. So excited, gonna wear my diamante moron belt and dance like the guy in the front row at Annie..heheheh...
