Excuses

I know I haven't updated my blog in aaages, but here are my four excuses:

-Saara doesn't have the internet, and I kind of started my blog to stay in touch with her
-I have my brogue weblog fembrogweblog.blogspot.com
-I used to wireless in my old house and it was worse than dial-up, excruciating
-I have to update CatwalkQueen.tv 2-3 times a day

So really, I'm not being lame at all you see. If you want to see what Kate Moss is up to (haha!) check out Catwalk Queen and leave a comment saying how much you love my writing.

Hello again!

I know I haven't been updating, things have been busy what with Bestival, Sweden and lots of other little bits. I am also now the blogger for Catwalk Queen, a site I used to read hourly in my office days. I start a new job on Wednesday, working on the December launch of a mag... in a month. Phew! At least I will be working with one of my friends. In other news, I recently got a pair of amazingest brogues in the world. Pics will be up soon on the fembrogweblog.

So I need to update my blog.

I have just figured out something that might be blog-worthy. Some of you might know, I lost my phone recently (hence the 20 different phone numbers of late) and someone ran up a massive bill on it. This morning I got a final notice for the bill, which is 340 pounds. I do have it, its in a envelope hidden between my stereo units (go thieves go!). Its the only money I have, apart from 40 pounds in my jewellery box. Its just it was supposed to go on savings, or something fun.
Which brings me to now. Shoewawa, my favourite shoeblog, are having a boot week. I spent half a day recently visiting the topshop, Wallis, Mango, Candysays, Zara, Shellys, Neet, EBay, Miss Selfridge, Marks, Office, etc.. websites to find some nice boots for winter (a 4 year search, I want them to be perfect). If this cretin hadn't spent 24 hours phoning Nigeria then I could conceivable buy these boots. I would be happy forever, ok so they're not that nice up close, but you get the idea. I could buy these boots and still have enough left over for a few gin and tonics. Or these.

Currently listening to:

An absolute gem of a song called 'My Sister' by the Tindersticks. They are one of the most perfect bands, but as usual I have only really got into them as they split up.

I made the Asian Mary, and it was good. Not spectacularly different, but at least I have invented something of note, and it can be commemorated on my tombstone when I die.

The Day The World Changed

On Saturday I took Phil on a whirlwind surprise trip to Hampstead Heath and to see Rob Newman's show 'There's no Planet B'. At the interval for said show, I asked for a Bloody Mary and the barman had to ask me what was in it. I KNOW!!
Anyway last night I came up with a recipe for a drink that will hopefully make me a fortune, and I will know that if it becomes famous someone will have stolen the recipe and I will hunt them down and kill them/ask them for some money.*

Asian Mary

Ice
1 Shot Vodka
Tomato Juice
Grated Ginger and Ginger Juice
Wasabi
Soy Sauce
Juive of 1/2 Lime and 1/4 Lemon
Umeshi (Japanese Plum Liqueur)
Slices of lime

Add ice, ginger, 3 good dashes of Soy Sauce, slices of lime and a fingernail of wasabi to a glass and mix. Add Vodka, juice of 1/2 lime, 1/4 lemon and tomato juice, mix again. Pour in a bit of Umeshi (or sherry) and freshly ground pepper, serve.

*Simon once told me a story about a very very sketchy man he met in a hostel in Lithuania. Said man told Simon: I have invented the best trick in the world, and I will show you but if I see anyone do it I will know you told them and I will track you down. He then did his trick, which was to juggle some lighters.

EDIT:
If you read my blog, try out the recipe and leave a comment, or if you're too scared I will be making it tomorrow and I'll let you know what it tastes like!

Long Stretch

So much free time, it is now exactly a month since I quit my job and its brilliant. I was worried at first, but the weather's nice, there's less pressure to find a job, any job to leave my old one. I did some pilates from a video found at the Lovely Boyfriend's house when he first moved in. I made a 3 minute comedy video with my friend Heidi. I have also started learning proofreading marks and have borrowed a book that claims it can teach me to touch type in 10 hours. We'll see.

Mexican Wave, Japanese Dinner

We went for a lovely meal for Henry's birthday, there were about 20 of us and I had lots of shashimi..dribble dribble. As I was already a bit squiffy by the time I got there, I decided to initiate a mexican wave. In a restaurant. Oh the shame, I must renounce any pretentions of ethnicity or foreigness and face to the fact that I have now become 100% English.

Joy Division will tear us apart

Check out this site, with loads of versions of the indie-club classic 'Love Will Tear Apart'. This song always reminds me of dancing drunkenly, in a faux-miserable manner in my local fleapit indie club (drinks for 1.50!).

What's a girl to do?

The Guardian website isn't working... It better be back up before I finish reading all my daily blogs and craft websites or mark my word, heads will roll!*

*Doubtful.

About Shitting Time!

I finally quit my job today! After 17 months of reading the internet to stave off boredom of the to tears variety I handed in my notice.

I feel pretty! Oh so pretty and witty and bri-ii-ight!

Friday was crazy, I had decided to quit, then got an interview the same day! I also had the nicest weekend ever, knowing that I wasn't going to be at work for much longer. Fireworks, Stanmer Park and my favourite folk-dad, Rory McLeod...
